 Makau- Fish Hook Pendant
Hawaiians have a deep understanding and connection to the ocean. The Makau is a fish hook that was used in ancient times to hunt for food. In early times locals would create fishhooks made from various materials. -bone, wood, coral and stone. Today the fishhook necklaces represent everything good: strength, prosperity, and good luck. All Makau are hand carved by Master Carver Tapa Muamoholeva of Nanakuli on the island of Oahu. Tapa has been carving wood and bone for over 15 years.
